“AHAVA” association has received calls from Lebanese people who are about to flee Lebanon but cannot take their animals with them. “AHAVA” (Saving animals in the Middle East) wants to save the lives of these animals and take them in – but the contact with the Lebanese was lost. AHAVA association sent 2 days ago e-mails to many embassies, offering help, but has had no response. “We know that many people leaving Lebanon are asking the embassies for help in saving their pets – and we, in AHAVA, want to offer that help!”.
AHAVA’s volunteers are willing to meet the ships evacuating people from Lebanon in mid-sea, and take in the animals. AHAVA is offering any help the owners of the animals prefer: either to receive their pets back at the end of the war, or have AHAVA find new homes for them. AHAVA is a strict “NO-KILL” association, and all animals, even the chronically sick, old, or badly wounded, get the best medical treatment and are taken care of in AHAVA until the end of their natural lives. AHAVA is a group of volunteers, Israelis and Arabs, who save animals in the Middle East. As the association is located in Israel, it is difficult to contact Lebanon directly.
AHAVA association has saved hundreds of dogs and cats that were abandoned in the north of Israel as tens of thousands fled the threat of deadly rockets. “Thousand of animals pay with their lives because of the war people wage in the Middle East, and no one help the animal!” Say the volunteers in AHAVA. “We, in AHAVA, can not stop this war, but we can do something to save the lives of animals and make it easier to bare on those who care for these animals!
AHAVA is asking anyone that can help in saving animals from the war to contact the association. AHAVA also appeals to the people in Lebanon to contact the association and let AHAVA save the animals.
Helping the people fleeing Lebanon save their animals will be a great solace in the most difficult time of their lives!
Due to lack of funds, AHAVA does not yet have an internet site, but you can e-mail animalsavers@gmail.com or call: 972-3-6446777 (24 hours a day)

| yes and of course lucky for them most animals don't have to carry passports to travel and so - everyone is doing their best and I can see how this can elevate people's suffering if only slightly. as the good PR people of Tesco put it - every little helps. |

More of the war rescues
Dear all,
To all of you who donated, supported and thought of us, we would like to update you on the sad situation in Lebanon.
On the 28th of July, BETA team re-entered the Beirut southern suburbs (one of the war zones) to feed the stray and abandoned pets. On the way, we encountered an abandoned pet shop and were able to retrieve some of the surviving animals - four cats and one puppy - pictures attached.
On the 2nd of August, and for the third time, BETA team, accompanied by a PETA representative who came all the way to Beirut to help our animals, have been able to enter that same area. Again, we put food and water for the strays and fed the rest of the animals at the abandoned pet shop -pigeons, birds, and turtles- We will come back to pick them up as soon as the pet shop owner unlock the cages.
We also visited the small zoo and made sure that the worker is still there feeding the remaining animals.
All we want and hope for now is for this war to end as we are unable to get to to the South of Lebanon. The situation there is really bad for both humans and animals. The living beings of that area cannot be reached at the moment.
Pictures of all our latest efforts can be seen at:

Some are of the pet shop rescues, some show the feeding of the war zone animals and some are rescues of abandonned pets and strays.
Kind regards
BETA Team http://beta.beirut.com
