There seem to be alternative reports out there that the trigger for this war was atually an Israeli invasion into Lebanon. According to a number of souces in the first few hours of hostility, the two abducted Israeli soldiers were found by Hisbullah in the village of Ayta al-Sha`b which is well inside lebanese territory.

It's interesting, but I have two reservations:
1. If this is true, why didn't the Hizbollah said that it captured two invading soldiers rather than boast about its own infitration? 2. The only "heavy" source in the article is the Associated Press report, saying "The militant group Hezbollah captured two Israeli soldiers during clashes Wednesday across the border in southern Lebanon". This can be interpreted in either of the two ways: the soldiers were southern Lebanon; the border accross which the clashes took place is in Southern Lebanon".
Another interesting link, though, claims that Israel planned the current operation a year in advance: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2006/07/21/MNG2QK396D1.DTL.

The term "southern Lebanon" is flexible. i can hardly believe that an israeli invasion to lebanon will begin with 5 tired reservists one day before the end of their line of duty. what does seem to be happening right now, is that -as always in the community called "the state" of israel - the government has no idea what its aims are, and therefore it is easily lead by the military chiefs |

| I disagree. Proposed scenario: Israel had been planning to re-invade lebanon for weeks - maybe to try its insane ben gurion plan, maybe to keep off the Hezbollah as far as possible from our northern border - that's open to interpretaion. The Hezbollah attacked in the wake of the Gaza mayhem and the chiefs said to the govt - hell, we've been planning to invade anyway. This is the perfect casus beli. The aims are destroying the Hezbollah politically rather than militarily, since Israel is begining to realise that a military cannot anihilate a guerrila group relying on popular support. Conclusion - remove the support. Method - kill people and destroy infastructure. Dumb? of course it is. |

I will give you another theory:
Mr Bush phones up and says "Hey! start a war with Lebanon. If you dont we will withdraw your military funding and watch you dissapear into the sea. Once you make a fucking mess, we will come in, cleanup and take Iran and Syria while we are at it."
"How do we start a war?" Says Olmert
Bush: "Send in a jeep full of soldiers. 6 deaths is nothing. We lost 3000 on september 11th. NOW DO IT!"
In reply to the post at 07/27/2006 : 13:26:13 which imples that the border with lebanon is not particularly defined. Have you been there? Theres a large fence and everything. |

just the tone. I am sorry, -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There seem<lie to be alternative<questionable reports< oh? ya and so haven't there been 100s, 1000s? out there<what strange place? that the trigger<one only? for this<? war<AHA? was atually an Israeli invasion into Lebanon. Indeed. Thats presumably very much the result after you bombed them now you went over the ground.
Dear goodwilling people that have to endure this crap every day. to whatever extend i did not yet witness, allow me to be happy with disagreeing whiney jews on foreign fora, where there is more a need of my intellectual opposition. I'm not going to challenge this shit.
Let me beg your pardon for whatever i posed so, that it cud only be read to come to more hurt then there was. (at least at one point an impression in a rereading my article is rude). But mind i provoke to think. thats why i like to point out the propaganda (@bias) dispute so plastically here. My regards. In the end i trust we will all come through, let us agree that then we will all realise it could have gotten to less harm. Untill that time may my sympathy rest with the forces that resist disproportionate violence, terror occupation and repression.
Mind you i take you all for non talmudic jews. anyone who's on the complete weirdo religious stuf of yours, i declare a complete and probably provokedly so nuts.
ciao
